Septic
Many home inspectors use a dye test for septic system testing. While Howell on Homes Inspection LLC can perform this method, we recommend that a septic system expert handle the inspection during a septic tank cleaning prior to closing. In fact, many lenders now require septic tank cleaning before finalizing a loan, allowing an expert to assess sludge levels, tank depth, and potential system issues.
During our routine home inspections, we evaluate drains for proper flow, check toilets for correct operation, and verify that air gaps and cross-flow are functioning as intended.
Septic systems in New York are strictly regulated by state and local agencies, with oversight from the NY Department of Health. This commitment to compliance ensures that your home’s septic system is thoroughly and accurately evaluated.
